History
of The Quilt's N' Covers Project
In
2000 in
Orlando
,
Florida
several women got together to talk about donating covers to the Homeless and
Abused Children, when we found out the average age of a child is 9 years old.
I ask them we try to collect 25 covers.
Since we did not want to limit our donations to only quilts we decided
that we would pick the name of Quilts-n-Covers.
Thus collecting quilts, crocheted and knitted afghans, about this time
polar fleece became popular.
This allowed everyone the opportunity to make a cover.
No sewing experience needed, and they make up very fast.
That year our International rally was in
Perry
,
GA.
where we had 803 units attending.
The ladies brought in 66 quilts-n-covers.
From here we have continued to collect these at our International and
National rallies, (which are in the winter in FL., Central Southern States and
Western Southern States)

From 2011 International Rally
Above are the pictures that were taken at the 47th International Rally held
in Du Quoin, Illinois. Three hundred and ten (310) quilts-n-covers were
donated along with 50 stuffed animals to the Poshard Foundation in the Du
Quoin greater area. Two thank you's have been received from two of the
organizations that are a part of this foundation. We met our goal of 11,010
in July, 2011. Goal for Next year's International Rally in Gillette, Wyoming
is another 1000 per year. We are now at 990, more to collect.
Thanks so much to Ramblers who care about others....and have put MANY
SMILES ON MANY CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS.
