Message from the Chapter President

Welcome to Chapter 47, Delaware Valley Ramblers. We have members from all areas in Pennsylvania and we are close to Maryland and Delaware.  We hope you will find fun and fellowship with our chapter.  We have all age groups from all walks of life in our club.  We have travel trailers, fifth wheels and motor homes.  You will become familiar with people and activities that make our chapter special and you will always feel welcomed. Be sure to check out our schedule. I think the best part of what our chapter does is having fun!  We share photos, stories of life’s adventures, games, crafts, great food, outings, campfires and other numerous activities. I know that life gets busy, but I personally hope you will make time to come to our next campout and hopefully join our chapter.

Feel free to give a call with any questions or to get more information.  My contact information is 610-932-9778 or csherrow@zoominternet.net

Sincerely,

Clarissa Sherrow

Chapter History

The members of Chapter 47 are primarily from Southeastern Pennsylvania. The chapter was formed in the fall of 1965. We are lucky tohave one of the original Charter Member Families, Jim and Roz Hoffmann (HRRVC #290E) in our chapter.

The purpose of the chapter is to provide year round opportunities for members to enjoy friendship and fellowship with other members, travel and explore new areas of our state and country, and provide an example of good RV courtesy on the road.

Members gather on scheduled weekends for activities that include campfires, potluck dinners, games, meetings, area events and the opportunity to share RV information and experiences.  Chapter 47 members are active in the national HRRVC rallies, caravans and adventures. Members volunteer to help in many areas at these rallies. Several members have trained and are now serving as Coordinators for future rallies.  Members provide support for many charities.

In September, 2006 the chapter held a reunion of current, former and emeritus members.  The forty-five plus members enjoyed a day of fun and fellowship.

Gifts Displayed are for the Philadelphia Shriners Hospital for Children

Paradise, PA was the destination of the Delaware Valley Ramblers (Chapter 47) for their Christmas luncheon at Historic Revere Tavern.   Bringing gifts to be delivered to the Philadelphia Shriners Hospital for Children, twenty-eight members and friends gathered in the beautifully decorated King George Room for an afternoon of food, fellowship and fun.  With the warmth of the old stone fireplace, we laughed and chatted through the social hour before settling down for an impressive buffet luncheon.

Later, we were challenged about our knowledge of the local Amish population.  Such questions as, “What vegetable other than potatoes is always served at an Amish Wedding?” and “How many dresses will an Amish woman own?” had us scratching our heads.   This was followed by acknowledgement of the service and devotion of our out-going officers and the installation of our newly elected leaders:  Clarissa Sherrow, president, Chuck Wasser, vice-president, Jim Bueche, treasurer and Kay Bueche, secretary.

Looking forward to the coming year, the schedule starting when our snowbirds return to the roost is pretty exciting.  We have 2 buddy rallies, 2 joint rallies with other chapters and some new adventures planned.  There’s always room for more members and friends, so please check us out.  If you live in the general southeastern part of Pennsylvania or are planning to visit this colorful and historic area, please join us for a weekend.  We’re looking forward to it.

FALL, 2011

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THIS FACE?

At the Int’l Rally in DuQuoin, many of you at least saw this adorable Beagle/Chihuahua puppy.  One of you lovingly removed the collection of ticks she sported and I’m sure that many of you gave her a cool drink of water on those miserably hot days.   She wandered around, having been dropped off in the hopes that someone would adopt her.  I understand that this is a common occurrence at the Fair Grounds.  After valiant attempts to find her original family (in case she was just lost), she was adopted and brought back to Pennsylvania by Dean and Evelyn Soderberg.  They named her Rally.  “What else would you name her?” says her new Mom.

This adorable puppy was just part of what was an absolutely wonderful HRRVC Int’l Rally.   With a very limited budget and a heroic effort to hold down the costs of the rally fee, Jim and Deb Isett did an amazing job.  Replacing some of the very expensive professional entertainment was a skit put on by our own Chapter 47 with the help of several others from outside of our chapter.  WHAT A HOOT!  When was the last time you had such a hearty laugh?  New games and tournaments, interesting side trips, delicious food and lots of volunteers made this a truly great event.  After our weary Delaware Valley Ramblers who made their way back to PA, they made our annual trip to J&D Campground in Elysburg, PA in August, where Rally Soderberg, our newest chapter 47 member soon won the hearts of the rest of us.  With 2 Buddies and 10 grandchildren to entertain, we were grateful for the wonderful amusement park down the road as well as the nearby Red Deer Farm and the campground pool and facilities.   Rally did her part, too.  The evening campfires were a good time to relax and share the adventures of the day.  How blessed we are as Holliday Ramblers to have such a good life of fellowship, fun AND PUPPIES.
